Principal/Senior Consultant, Strategic Marketing

SALARY: £50,00-£55,000 per annum DOE

About the role
We are looking for a Principal or Senior Consultant, who will be responsible for providing strategic consultancy services to higher education; focusing on the research, design and implementation of comprehensive brand and marketing strategies for an exciting range of Higher Education sector clients across academia, government and industry.
Leading on brand and reputation consultancy projects, the ideal candidate will have extensive marketing experience and comprehensive knowledge of branding. This person must be able to lead a team of consultants, researchers, copywriters, and designers and interact with clients on a regular basis.
The role will be based in London/Hybrid working remotely in a UK location. The role demands entrepreneurial spirit and the flexibility and willingness to contribute to delivery in all global regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the creation and execution of client brand and marketing strategies, from research through to creative execution and activation
- Liaise with commercial directors and external clients to define client requirements, and then confidently lead on the project design and management of client projects
- Line management of Consultants and Research Executives and take an active role in community management and training
- Play a pivotal role in business and product development, identifying new opportunities for THE to support the achievement of clients’ strategic objectives and designing research and creative solution to meet those needs
- Work with Directors and the Sales team to write proposals
- Provide subject matter expertise through presentations at relevant THE meetings and events and maintain professional and technical knowledge, including attendance at THE events and reviewing professional publications
Essential Skills
- Track record of complex project management, financial management, and successful delivery of projects.
- Expert in the development of marketing strategies including; brand and reputation research, defining audience segmentation and targeting, brand positioning and development (with experience in leading copywriting, design, etc), and defining marketing tactics (such as advertising, events, web development)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with various internal stakeholders and external clients globally (including senior stakeholders from academia, government and industry)
- Confident and independent self-starter who is able to hit the ground running; comfortable working within teams as well as being able to work effectively autonomously managing a challenging workload
- Ability to work to agreed deadlines, working well under pressure, with excellent planning and organisational skills in order to manage and prioritise own workload
- Critical thinking skills with strengths in qualitative or quantitative data collection and analysis
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector and government policy for higher education
- Willing to work irregular hours and travel internationally
- Familiarity with data analysis software and data visualisation tools
